
I stumbled across an old photo of myself recently. It was the photo of my three filter day.
I remember the day so clearly, even though it was seven years ago!
I was in a really bad way with crippling adrenal fatigue, but I went out to lunch with my daughter to try and lift my spirits and spend some quality time with her.
She wanted to do a selfie for social media and I indulged her, even though I felt dreadful.
You see, the effort of just getting ready had already worn me out.
She is such a sweet kid and picked up I was uncomfortable about just how tired I looked.

She said, “don’t worry I put three filters on it!!”
Yep. It was definitely a three filter time of my life.
Adrenal fatigue is a biggie. I’ve had it twice more over the years.
What I didn’t realise was that complete healing and wellness was going to involve some pretty radical changes in my life and in my belief system!
So, yes – self care and avoiding burn out is one of my favourite topics to talk about now.
It’s also one of the reasons I’m a virtual assistant.
There are so many women, mums and business owners that are suffering from burn out.
It’s an epidemic.
The causes are multi-faceted and I could write a whole book about why women get burnt out (maybe one day!!)
The solutions are multi-layered across many areas of our lives, from changing daily habits to deep, internal work.
Accepting that we are humans, not robots and that we can’t possibly do everything ourselves is a great starting point.
Offloading and outsourcing the things you hate, the things you don’t have time for and the things you just don’t want to do is a great starting point.
Start delegating!
